Stefanie Bennett is an American electronic dance recording artist, singer, songwriter, producer, dancer and choreographer whose career bridges the roots of freestyle with an ever-evolving spectrum of contemporary dance music.

A New Jersey native with deep roots in the Philadelphia dance scene, Bennett has built a career defined by reinvention, perseverance and an unmistakable connection with her audience.

Bennett has released music through Tazmania, Hot, Metopolitan, Universal, and Virgin, performed throughout the United States and internationally, and built an extensive independent catalog spanning more than three decades.

“She has a magnetism and stage presence you cannot help but be drawn to,” wrote Dance Music Authority. “You can tell she loves what she does. Her energy is infectious!”

 

FROM PHILLY DANCE FLOORS TO RECORDING ARTIST

 

Bennett’s connection to music began at home. Her mother and father met while playing in a band together in the early 1970s, and some of her earliest memories are of sitting on the floor watching the band rehearse and listening as her father taught piano lessons.

By her teens, dance had become just as important as music. At age 15, Bennett won a local talent contest performing “Because of You” by The Cover Girls — a moment that confirmed her ambition to become a recording artist.

A fixture in the Philadelphia-area club scene as a teenager, Bennett was also a B-girl and a member of the K.O. Girls dance troupe and Assault with a Deadly Step. Dance would remain a defining part of her artistic identity; she later spent 18 years teaching hip-hop dance and choreography while continuing to develop as a recording artist and performer.

By the late 1980s and early 1990s, Bennett was emerging as a recording artist. Her early songs — including “Getaway,” “Don’t Let Me Go,” “Show Me The Way,” “Never Too Late,” “Swing My Way” and “I’ll Never Forget You” — became part of the era’s underground mixtape culture and helped establish her with freestyle and dance audiences.

Bennett’s early releases appeared on national and international dance compilations and took her beyond the studio and onto stages throughout the United States and Brazil, establishing a live performance career alongside her growing recording catalog. Songs from this period included “Too Much Too Late,” “Don’t Take Your Love Away,” “Angelo,” “Take Me Higher,” “Crazy,” “Fallin” and “Ooh La La La,” with much of her early work ultimately collected on the full-length album Freestyle Diva in 2000.

Her career continued to expand beyond traditional freestyle. As lead vocalist for the electro-beat project Paradigm, Bennett recorded “Back 4 My Love,” a genre-blending dance record that reached No. 15 on a Billboard dance chart — an early indication of the electronic direction she would continue exploring throughout her career.

 

THE INDEPENDENT ERA

 

In 2018, Bennett took greater control of the business behind her music, establishing her independent label, Fienx Recordings, and publishing company, SBeezy Music (BMI). The move marked a new chapter in her career — one in which she could release music on her own terms while continuing to experiment beyond the boundaries of traditional freestyle.

Her independent releases include “Dreams of You,” “Shine,” “Unlovable,” “Against All Odds,” “Heart On The Run,” “Giddit,” “One Last Breath,” “Butterfly,” “Cupid’s Arrow” and “Call Me Broken.” Many of these projects were developed as multi-version releases designed for DJs, radio and dance floors, reflecting Bennett’s long-standing connection to club culture.

Bennett’s international connection with dance music has also remained an important part of her career. In August 2024, she returned to Brazil to perform at the 'Dance of Dances Tour' in Brasília, adding another chapter to a relationship with Brazilian audiences that included her earlier appearance on the 'Party of Dreams Tour' in Rio de Janeiro in 2019.

By 2026, Bennett was ready for another reinvention. On January 1, she opened the year with her first EDM/trap release, “Pour That Damn Thing In My Cup,” signaling a deliberate expansion into contemporary electronic music.

That release would prove to be only the beginning of what became one of the most prolific periods of her career.

 

2026: A NEW ELECTRONIC CHAPTER

 

In April 2026, Bennett released Hold My Margarita, an ambitious 33-track album and one of the most expansive projects of her career. Drawn from personal experiences and spanning multiple styles of dance and electronic music, the album serves as both a reflection of the artist Bennett has been and a statement about the artist she continues to become.

Rather than treating the album as the end of a project, Bennett used it as the beginning of a new creative period. Throughout 2026, she continued writing, recording, collaborating with producers and developing new versions of her music for DJs, radio, streaming and the dance floor.

Her 2026 releases further demonstrate that range: the emotionally driven piano-house record “Holding Me,” the high-energy dance anthem “Dance Like This,” and “This Can’t Be It,” a seven-mix, multi-genre electronic maxi-single spanning Florida breaks, breakbeat, liquid jungle/drum & bass and freestyle.

The year also brought another evolution with “I’m Losing You,” an electronic/tech-house collaboration with Miami producer Felix Sama. Set for release in late fall 2026, the track pairs an emotionally vulnerable lyric with contemporary club production and represents another step in Bennett’s continuing evolution beyond the boundaries of traditional freestyle.

Another significant collaboration is now on the horizon. Bennett has been invited to collaborate with the 69 Boyz, the influential Miami-bass and Southern hip-hop group behind the crossover dance hit “Tootsee Roll.” The opportunity represents a notable crossover for Bennett, connecting her dance-music roots with one of the recognizable names associated with the bass-driven club sound of the 1990s while opening the door to new creative territory.

At the same time, momentum continues to build around Bennett’s April 2026 album, Hold My Margarita. “This Can’t Be It,” the first official single released from the 33-track album, recently earned regular rotation at six Top 40 radio stations — a significant achievement for an independently released record. Bennett plans to continue releasing singles from Hold My Margarita approximately every three to four months, allowing individual songs to develop their own audiences while extending the life of the album through an ongoing release campaign. She will also continue celebrating the project through album-release performances and special live events.

Bennett’s international performance story continues to grow as well. In early winter 2026, she is preparing to make her third trip to Brazil, strengthening a relationship with Brazilian audiences that has become an important part of her live career. The return follows her appearance on the 'Party of Dreams Tour' in Rio de Janeiro in 2019 and her 2024 performance at 'Dance of Dances Tour' in Brasília.

Looking ahead, Bennett is preparing to bring her evolving sound to electronic dance music conferences, where upcoming drum & bass material will become part of her expanding live presentation. She is also welcoming new collaborations with established producers while continuing to explore breakbeat, house, drum & bass and other contemporary electronic styles.

Bennett is also expanding the live presentation of her new material. In 2026, she began rehearsals for a new performance format incorporating a three-piece percussion ensemble alongside live musicians, bringing an additional organic, performance-driven dimension to her electronic productions.

At the same time, Bennett is developing new music inspired by the energy and freedom of LGBTQ+ club culture while expanding her presence as a singer, songwriter and live performer within that scene. She is currently developing a five-song EP under the working title Taste My Rainbow, embracing themes of individuality, confidence and self-expression while continuing to push her songwriting into new territory.

More than three decades after first emerging from the Philadelphia dance scene, Bennett enters the next chapter of her career with the same creative drive that has defined her journey from the beginning. With new releases, international performances, evolving live production and collaborations on the horizon, she remains committed to moving forward — carrying the experience and instincts of an established recording artist into a new generation of electronic dance music while continuing to build connections with audiences on dance floors around the world.
